The most consistent approach I can think of at the moment is to add another panel to gnome-initial-setup that allows the user to set the super key. Here is a commit from Endless that addes a EULA page to their distro: endlessm/gnome-initial-setup@4c16032
@kgilmer Couldn't this just be solved by mapping a shortcut, say Mod+Alt+3, to a command like sudo vim or sudo nano /etc/Regolith/i3/config?
Alternatively, it could be a button on i3xrocks (maybe i3xrocks-i3-config) that the user presses that then launches with the user's favourite text editor?
I could see what I myself can do with this issue, but I might not get far.
that may work @marauder316 but we do not recommend that users directly edit the i3 config file in the /etc directory, as it can get overwritten by package upgrades, and if an upgrade occurs and the user does not take the updated config there is a risk that i3 won't start properly. Additionally the sudo would require them to type in their password.
This issue is a subset of #2 , refer to it for details.
