...so that a specially-crafted EPUB can extract the versioning info and display it within the rendering viewport (i.e. without the need for an application-specific UI dialog such as the "about" dialog of ReadiumJS). For a native Readium app launcher (including those custom ones implemented by vendors), this will allow users to copy/paste version information straight from the ebook, just in case vendors decide not to provide UI affordance for detailed Git hash information.
