I've been messing around with defining a ".h" string in the Makefile, and am wondering if this would be something to try out for the subproject config.h includes, like this:
-DQMK_SUBPROJECT_CONFIG_H=\"$(SUBPROJECT)/config.h\"
Which could then just be included with #include QMK_SUBPROJECT_CONFIG_H, rather than the if statements we have now.
#include QMK_SUBPROJECT_CONFIG_H
