Extensions patch release blocking qiskit PR

The fix introduced in #1420 to unblock Qiskit/qiskit#11997 would have to be released to be accessible to qiskit-neko, which doesn't install from source. A patch release should be enough to fulfill this. Do you think it would be possible before the 1.1 rc1 release deadline (May 1st)?

Yes, we will make a patch release before May 1 with that fix. Let me know if you would prefer it sooner than that.
