ZAP vs Selenium

Hi. I've read the documentation and the source code and tested purpleteam running, but I don't quite get the relationship between ZAP and Selenium containers. It seems they independently log in to the SUT, It seems that ZAP is used to spider the SUT. What's the role of the Selenium? Thanks.
