Device side logs missing when darwin fails

Problem

The device side logs are meant to be interspersed with the controller logs, but it looks like they don't show up at all when darwin fails. This is actually the WORST time for the device logs to vanish because it makes failures utterly not debuggable.

Proposed Solution

Write out both sides of the logs even when darwin fails. Unfortunately, I have zero knowledge on how to do this other than it needs to be done for developer sanity.
