I have tried with the super key, I have tried from the terminal, I can get it to output -h and -V, but it never opens a graphical window.

I am using the sysext version of cosmic.

You are probably missing https://github.com/pop-os/launcher on your system, which is a required (and separate) binary for the cosmic-launcher. What distro are you on?

I am on Manjaro.

If this is required then I believe one of two things should be done.

A) this should be a required dependency by cosmic-launcher (assuming you can't just plug any other launcher into this)
B) If you don't have pop-os/launcher installed it should pop up a graphical error message explaining what it is missing. (or at the very least a terminal error if someone tries to debug by launching in the terminal.

I was under the assumption that this was incompatible with my system or some bug was causing it to silently fail. I am compiling the launcher right now.

I second that!
