Here are some resources related to unemployment insurance (UI):

• Paper on UI over the business cycle in the US
• Simulations of the UI model with MATLAB
• Theoretical background on UI, which we will cover at the end of the course

The idea would be to recalibrate the UI model, maybe to a specific state such as California, and to simulate the impact of UI and the generosity of the optimal UI policy. It would be interesting to see the effect of UI on tightness, unemployment and employment over the business cycle. It would be interesting to see the optimal response of UI to the pandemic.
