The login process gives first impression to anyone joining. Let's make it much simpler to register.

Step 1. Create empire.

Empire name (required)
Password (required)
Email address (required)
Captcha (required)
Agree to rules (required)

This would send a registration code to their email address. Clicking the link allows them to login (thus validating their email address).

At this point they can join chat. They can get advice about their species to choose before they commit.

Step 2. Create species.

Friend join codes can be entered here (optional)
Rather like currently. Perhaps more information on the strengths and weaknesses of each affinity.

Notes:
Drop Facebook login, it just complicates the login process, We don't have many people using Facebook login.
