Problem Description
For phetsims/qa#791.
In studio, if you turn on voicing then launch the sim, the launched sim does not have voicing on. This is also the case for visual highlights.

This is by design. We do not want preferences to persist through runtimes (and thus don't support it for PhET-iO state). Feel free to close this issue after documenting this as you need.

It would be my recommendation that you create a section under the "PhET-iO State" section (which powers the state wrapper and studio launch) that lists all the items that we have designed as "transient" and so aren't in the state. Right now this would be:

  • Hover highlights for mouse
  • Phet menu open
  • Combo box list box open
  • Preferences features: the Properties that control all the preferences Except on the general tab, which are sim-specific. This includes voicing enabled and voicing options, interactive highlights and gesture control.
