Using ostree-admin manually in an existing system

Hii, say I have a Debian OS installed. Is it possible for me to adapt to ostree irrespective of Debian's support manually? I'm doing this to learn ostree by sorta trying it from scratch. The docs only discuss the theory for distros implementing it.

What I'm looking for is a Getting Started guide that covers like this:

1. These are the commands you run to initialize ostree for your OS.
2. These are the commands you are supposed to run after making changes (like installing a package), so that you get a GRUB entry.
3. These are the commands to run to rollback if it didn't work.

I'm able to create a repo at / and make commit everytime I do something but I'm stuck on how to make a GRUB entry so that I can directly boot into them. Or in other words I'm completely lost on how to make use of ostree's builtin admin feature that does it already.
