Describe the idea

Allow OsmAnd to be displayed on lock screen if it was last open app.

Google Maps was doing it for some time during navigation.
And recently I found that Organic Maps has "Show on lock screen" option in Settings.
This makes me think that it's in realm of possible.

Expected behaviour

I rely a bit too much on phone outdoors.
And it's not easy to unlock phone with wet hands in rain or in gloves in blizzard when fingerprints stop working.
And policy for corporate apps does not allow phone setup without password.

With "Show on lock screen" i will be able to just push power button to get map displayed.
And it even works together with camera app: i can summon photo app with power button double click and make photos and after turn screen off (with power button) and on (with power button) i get back to map without login.

Alternatives you've considered

Enter password with my nose, Organic Maps or wait till better weather, I guess.
Also smart watch of sort.
But I'm used to OsmAnd+ and find it superior especially with plugins.

We already do it, if you double tap on lock screen with last app OsmAnd it will display without entering pin

It seems that the mentioned feature is not working properly at this time.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open the OsmAnd app and start navigation.
  2. Lock the phone by pressing the power button.
  3. Attempt to double-tap the lock screen.
  4. Observe whether OsmAnd opens without requiring a PIN/password entry.

Actual Result:

  • OsmAnd does not open from the lock screen even after double-tapping.

Expected Behavior:

  • Double-tapping the lock screen should directly reopen OsmAnd in navigation mode without requiring the user to unlock the phone.

After reviewing the functionality, I confirmed that this feature works under specific settings. Here's a step-by-step guide to enable it:

Steps

  1. Open Menu in OsmAnd.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Your Profile (Browse Map) > General Settings > Screen Control.
  3. Enable Use system screen timeout, then enable Power button.

Note:

  • This feature will not work with navigation enabled.

Test:

  1. With navigation disabled, lock the phone by pressing the power button.
  2. When the phone is locked, double-tap the screen.
  3. The screen should turn on without requiring a password.

@nnnnnk Please try these steps and let us know if it resolves the issue.

yes, it works!
and switching to photo app and back without login works as well.
and for me even navigation mode works the same way.

awesome. thanks a lot!

i have S23 Ultra with Android 14 and One UI 6.1. probably would be smart to mentioned it from the start.
