• Very rude staff: meta-tags are placed at bottom of the head when hit via client-side link vs top of head through server request vercel/next.js#17478 (comment)
• Very autocratic way of handling stuff: jsx was set to preserve (next.js implements its own optimized jsx transform) vercel/next.js#19155
• Not caring at all: Disable Fast Refresh vercel/next.js#13268

This was a false alarm. next/link works perfect with useState. Perhaps the problem was in my state machine code.
