Hey Switchers! This is Roger (petruki), the Switcher API creator and developer lead. I have been working as a Software Engineer for over 10 years, and in the last 2 years I have been developing tools to improve software maintainability by providing features to give developers more control over their code. The Switcher API was initially intended to enable rapid response to incidents and uncertainties when it comes to not fulfilling requirements or just bad feedback from users. In short, a Feature Flag API to switch the code workflow during runtime. As a result of many experiments and different use cases, the Switcher API has become more than just an A/B toggle and we now provide a more diverse range of functionality that can, for example, delegate business rules using your own infrastructure, plus the flexibility to customize how communication will be handled. This includes features introduced by our super lightweight SDKs that allow developers to configure their applications for all kinds of situations. It works for distributed, high-demand applications that require zero latency. Simply change a Switcher to propagate the change to multiple other interdependent components and more. The switcher API has many small internal components and is growing... slowly - but still. I am the only one working on it during my spare time though. Please use this space for general questions, thoughts, and suggestions related to the initiative. Should you have more specific questions about SDKs, API, UI, or the Slack App, you can use the discussion area of the project repository. |
