Do I still need to disable HAL?

Hello im recently migrating to blue pill stm32f103. and I'm new here. I read about disabling HAL that I don't need to by uncommented the HAL that I don't need in order to reduce flash needed.

But after I tried, the flash required still the same.

question: Is I need to do that or IDE already do it in background, disabling HAL that I'm not using? or I do it wrong? if yes any example how to do that? maybe I do it wrong way.

Compiler already optimizes and removed u nused code.
Disable the Serial.

so compiler already removed it including ADC, I2C, SPI, DAC?

so why there is git page that mention "I need to disable it by my self to get more flash" ? is that git out to date?

Compiler removed unused functions anyway disabling HAL module remove some data compiler do not removed that's all (mainly array in the PeriphalPins.cpp file.

now im getting more confused, i already disabling HAL on arduino src folder. but still nothing change.and 26% flash used just for blink example feels dont right to me. can you give me a rar or ino. file that with hal_conf_extra?

and second question: why you need to disable serial. as git link that you send me already state it handled by Arduino ide. and how to disable the serial?.

By default Serial is enabled in the lenu. Simply disable it thanks the menu.
