I have an interesting "issue" that I would like to see if anyone has an idea on how to mitigate.
Most of the times when I boot my laptop the i3bar is very small, such that I can barely read the value of the clock, battery info etc.
This also applies to dmenu.
But sometimes when I boot the size of the bar (and dmenu) is a lot more reasonable!
This also seems to fix itself if I log out and back in one time.
Dmenu also seems to have the correct scaling if I log in to GNOME.
The effect within Regolith is similar to that of connecting to an external monitor and the built-in screen of my laptop gets really tiny, i.e. if I want to have reasonable size on the external monitor I have to have very tiny on my laptop (I think this is due to limited scaling capabilities of X).
But the bar/demu "issue" is independent of whether or not I have an external monitor connected and what size I get from boot to boot seems random.
I have looked for a way to specify the scaling/size of the bar but could not find anything relevant. Since the issue also effects dmenu I think it's more likely an X-thing than an i3-thing, maybe... No other applications seems effected and such they follow the automatic scaling that occurs when connecting and disconnecting external monitors: I always get a reasonable resolution, except for the bar and dmenu.
Do anyone else have this issue or even better; an idea on how to trouble shoot/mitigate it?
