Gem5 network(kvm)

Hello, I am a graduate student in Korea planning to conduct research using Gem5. I have the following questions:

1. Is it possible to connect two Gem5 instances on the same server (for example, via Ethernet)?
2. Is it possible to configure two nodes within a single Gem5 instance and connect them to each other?

My goal is to set up two Gem5 instances (or nodes), connect them, and then measure the data. If you have any other suggestions or approaches beyond these two methods, I would greatly appreciate your advice.

1. Yes. You may want to look int "dist-gem5." This support was upstreamed into the main line. See https://github.com/gem5/gem5/blob/stable/src/dev/net/Ethernet.py#L76. Unfortunately, there is little documentation on how to use this feature, and it has not been tested in many years. So, it may or may not work.
2. Yes. See https://github.com/gem5/gem5/blob/stable/src/dev/net/Ethernet.py#L63.
