How to deduplicate account with a lot of duplicated messages

I have one account with a lot of duplicated messages.

Do you have any advice on how to deduplicate them and delete the messages that are included multiple times?

If the mails are content wise completely identical, you can give a tool like fdupes a try:

If you can use / create a second account temporary, you could use imapsync to sync the messages between the accounts.
imapsync omits duplicates during sync by default.
