Hello everyone, it is great that we all met at this stage. Different people with different experience, is there a better way to learn and grow? I can't wait. While working on our tasks, how about we get to know each other? Everyone drop a one thing about your country, culture and community.
I will start. I am from Ethiopia and did you know that there are more than 80 nationalities speaking that amount of different languages in here? And yeah we have our own calendar. We just celebrated 2016.

Also from Nigeria, Northern Nigeria to be specific.
Nigeria has 36 states and our capital is Abuja. Am actually from the commercial city of Kano state. Nigerians celebrate their independence every 1st of October. Do you know in Nigeria we have different ethnic group and speak varieties of languages but the main languages spoken are Ibo, Hausa and Yoruba while our main lingua franca remains English.
Nigerians are happy people and not to forget great cooks too🤤

This is so much fun! Hi @Bethelhem-Gebre from Ethiopia, I just learned something new about Ethiopia. Did you really just celebrate 2016? :)

Now, let me share a bit from my end. I am Amarachi and I am from Nigeria. Just like Ethiopia, Nigeria has so many cultures and traditions stemming from various ethnicities. It is said that we're Africa's most populous country and the seventh-most populous country in the world.

But here is a fun fact about Nigeria; Did you know (in Young Sheldon's voice) That the name Nigeria is derived from the river called 'Niger' as the longest river in Nigeria is called 'Niger' which is 2,547 miles in length. This river flows into the Atlantic Ocean via the Gulf of Guinea. Hahaha fun right?

@Amarachhhiii Well yes we did. Our calendar is called the Ge'ez calender. (By the way Ge'ez is an ancient language that is believed by scholars to be morethan 5,000yrs old and still spoken in Ethiopia). The calendar takes its inspiration from the idea that Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden for seven years before they were expelled for their sins. Counting the year started from that point. That the reason behind the 7 years difference from the Gregorian calendar.

I knew Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa but the 7th most populated one in the world, woahh that's huge. And the name Niger, that's cool. Glad to know something new about the African giant. Thank you for sharing!

I am just hearing about the Ge'ez calendar. It seems like the Ge'ez calendar is like the OG timekeeper since Adam and Eve's eviction party. Forget Netflix, I would want to binge-watch Ge'ez calendar dramatic and historic events. 😄🍿
