System information

Type Version/Name
Distribution Name CentOS
Distribution Version 7
Kernel Version 3.10.0-1160.80.1.el7.x86_64
Architecture x86_64
OpenZFS Version 2.1.7

Describe the problem you're observing

The current RH/CentOS 7 repository only provides ZFS up to 2.0.7

For using the newer 2.1.x branch one has to enable the zfs-testing repo, which is not ideal for production machines (at least in principle).

Please provide ZFS 2.1.x in the main zfs branch.

Describe how to reproduce the problem

On a fully updated RH/CentOS 7 machines, querying the available ZFS version returns the following:

[root@kvm ~]# yum info zfs
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
 * base: centos.mirror.garr.it
 * centos-qemu-ev: centos.mirror.garr.it
 * epel: it1.mirror.vhosting-it.com
 * extras: centos.mirror.garr.it
 * updates: centos.mirror.garr.it

I can confirm that 2.0.7 Is still the latest release available for Centos 7. I could not find any mention that 2.1.x is not compatible with RHEL7 based distros.

I enabled the testing repo for Centos 7 which provides me with 2.1.8.

This is still an issue as of August 2023.

We are running into a similar issue to #14005, and want to upgrade to the latest to get the arc_evict changes made here: #14359.
