Don't have a fitbit ultra yet, but they're out there, and it'd be nice to get the altimeter data off of it.

I've got one and am starting to experiment with this tool on an OS X machine.

For the altimeter data, I would actually kind of like to be able to massage the data since it sometimes doesn't filter out pressure changes when walking outdoors due to high wind.

I haven't dug into the protocol yet so I'm not that familiar with the rest of how things work. It appears that some things are not yet correctly working with my Ultra. I'm not sure whether this is due to quirks on the platform or device differences.

qdot, are you still blocked on needing a fitbit ultra device? Do you have a rough estimate of how much work you'll need to do after you get one? If you're fairly confident that you will be successful at getting altimeter readings working, some friends and I would consider chipping in to buy you a device for development.

Actually... I ran one through the washing machine, it still works but it wasn't holding as much of a charge and Fitbit sent me a replacement. I have no idea whether they would still pair the device with an account, but I could send it I suppose?

I was thinking about doing something on this myself, but I've been too busy as of late.

There is no raw altimeter reading in the fitbit ultra, only a floors estimation. I've been dissecting and correctly interpreting this information.
