What / Why

I think it would be nice to have a similar function like coerce() for identifiers only.
Let's say there is a way for the user to check validity of an identifier (#350), what to do then?
No idea where to start though. Extend coerce() somehow? Or create its own function? How to name it?

This seems unnecessary (see #350 (comment)).

What's an example for an invalid identifier that should be made valid?
