Let's discuss what Outreach team can do for the Node.js Community Events.

Community events goal includes Node.js related meetups, conferences, workshops, and more. We are currently figuring out ways to promote Node speakers, events, and build consistent meetups workflow to increase participation in such events.

Let's kick start the discussion around the following topics:

• Should we do an Org account on Meetups.com
• Meetup in a Box
• Make a workflow that's inclusive of current Node.js related meetups

For "meetups in a box" we don't need to start from scratch.

We can create prototypes of successful Node.js meetups by analysing the formats the folks use here and make it easier for new meetups to reproduce the format they choose.

We can even improve the currently existing meetup formats and then integrate with the meetups in a box plan. ✌️

UPDATE: @amiller-gh discussed with folks from Meetup.com, and they refused to offer non-profit pricing which is a bummer.

We are now thinking about having a country or statewide meetups instead. So, that could only be less than 300 meetups at the most. Where we could ask different meetup groups to show up as well people from any city would be able to do meetups without having to worry about paying $30/month.

This will also help us keep these meetups more consistent. But even these meetups would not be head-to-head with already running meetup programs.
