Ref: nodejs/TSC#490 (comment)

Gzemnid is the tool which @ChALkeR uses to build grep-able datasets from the latest versions of all packages in npm registry. He would like to see it moved to the org.

From the original issue, the following TSC members are in favor of this (based on emoji reactions and comments--if I'm misrepresenting anyone, please correct me!):

  1. @ChALkeR
  2. @gibfahn
  3. @MylesBorins
  4. @jasnell
  5. @joyeecheung
  6. @addaleax
  7. @Fishrock123
  8. @targos
  9. @Trott
  10. @mcollina

There might be others that I can't see because they are hidden by the "and 8 more" in the emoji reactions, but that's a majority of the current TSC right there and there are no objections.

According to policy, this issue is automatically approved after 72 hours if no one on TSC or CommComm objects.

@nodejs/tsc @nodejs/community-committee Please comment if you support this or (especially) if you object. Thanks!

This is totally coming from my own curiosity: What does Gzemnid do, and what's the benefit of having it in the org?

I'm +1 regardless, and would like to state that I think we probably don't (and shouldn't) need to go through so much process to move repos into the org. Having a heads up is super awesome, but if it's beneficial and there's consensus within the group that would like to bring it in (plus the committee that group is under, if applicable) we probably don't need to block that 👍

@bnb I think you are describing our process as it stands. The process is: Open an issue in the admin repo. If there are no CommComm or TSC objections within 72 hours, the repo may be brought into the org. That seems pretty lightweight to me. If you think it should change, though, feel free to open a PR against https://github.com/nodejs/TSC/blob/master/GitHub-Org-Management-Policy.md. (While you're at it, please move that doc into this repo. :-D )

@bnb Gzemnid processes data from the npm registry to make it searchable so that @ChALkeR or others can answer questions like "How pervasive is Buffer constructor usage?"

+1 from me, I don't think I recorded that anywhere yet

And I wonder if it would make sense to have this on a shared server somewhere for TSC members (and maybe collaborators?) to access and work on a shared data set? how big does it get @ChALkeR and how practical is it for others to use for occasional queries on their own machines?

@ChALkeR You can move it into the org and close this issue if you wish. If you'd prefer someone else do that, leave a comment. (Or if there's still some prep work that needs to happen before we move it into the org, leave a comment about that too.)

I think @joyeecheung made some notes on step-by-step moving stuff into the org at some point, but I could be wrong. Not sure where the notes (if they exist and I"m not imagining it) ended up...

Event source transformation of npm registry package documents? Yes please.
