Not very many other javascript AsciiDoc renderers, examples of other renderers and online editors available at

  But neither of these have Nextcloud integration.

Dear @bkmgit, thanks for your feedback. Good news, editing asciidoc as plaintext is already implemented in our development branch and will come with Nextcloud 26: #3535

Do you mean rendering asciidoc as WYSIWYG like we do for markdown?

@mejo- I think that is wat @bkmgit was aiming for.

Maybe as a first step it would be nice to have a 'live preview' (ie rendered AsciiDoc) and after that add syntax highlighting and more 'editor/word processor features'.

Ultimately it would be awesome if 'AsciiDoc co-authoring' through any Office Suite Web App integration could be achieved, but that may be a little too ambitious for now.

A javascript implementation for Live Preview that might be integrated into NextCloud already exists here: https://github.com/asciidoctor/asciidoctor.js

Yes, rendering asciidoc in the same way that markdown is rendered.

The primary goal of text is to be a WYSIWYG easy to use text editor which uses markdown files for storing. The libraries mentioned would only cover a preview next to the actual content, so this is nothing we have on the roadmap and plan to implement.

However since there is a plain text editing mode it might be feasible to implement a side-by-side preview next to it for AsciiDoc or other formats (#684 #3570). I'd close this for now as we have no plans to implement this on our side, but would certainly be open for a pull request if anyone wants to contribute.
