Problem

The docs say that - since 2 months - 29 is the latest stable version.

However on the DockerHub page still says that 28 is the stable version and this is also the case for the images/tags.

Suggested fix

  • Update to the stable tag to version 29
  • Implement a mechanism to automatically get which version is now stable so that this cannot happen again

I think 28 is considered stable while 29 is marked as latest

Sorry but I don't care what people "think" when the offical docs page says it's 29 because that's a fact.
Maybe it should be called previous-stable then (as on the docs page) or something similar, however I don't think this discussion should be done inside this issue.

I'm more worried about the fact that there is no docker tagged with 29.0.4 even though that is out now.

What has that to do with this issue?

@litetex at time of writing, if I recall correctly, the docker tag for 29.0.4 existed, but it was not listed in dockerhub. That's what led to the confusion as to whether it was actually stable in docker or not. Documentation and notifications were going off saying to upgrade, but the latest stable on the main dockerhub page was not listing the version that notifications were referencing. That's why I felt it fell under this topic. Apologies if there was a more appropriate location for the discussion on that.
