Always open most recent collective and page #75

In GitLab by @haverholm on May 27, 2021, 12:55 As we only have one collective on our instance, this would certainly be preferable to the "No collective selected" splash. I'd suggest the option of setting a main collective to be shown on opening the app (defaulting to the only one in our case) to avoid clicking around unnecessarily? |
After briefly discussing this again with @max-nextcloud I think that we're not going to implement this anytime soon. Other apps don't do such a thing either. A dashboard widget (#113) would be the better solution for a shortcut to recent collectives and pages. |
I would also appreciate this feature as we also have only one collective on our instance. A dashboard widget is not an option for us as we do not use the dashboard. The simplest and most intuitive solution for our use case would be to open our single collective by default. Since the feature is clearly useful for this (probably not so rare) use case and could be optionally configured by the admin, I see no reason not to consider this feature. |
@mschmidm I can very much see how this would be useful for a single collective use case. At the same time it would make the ability to create others collectives harder to find. I just checked and neither talk nor tables - who also have a similar UI layout open the most recent item (conversation / table). For a single collective using https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/external to add a custom link to the app menu could be another option. I think there are plans to make the list of apps more customizable and then this could replace the collectives app icon on instances that want this. |
Instead of opening the EmptyPage when entering the app, we should open the most recently used collective.
Even better, open the most recently opened page from the most recently opened collective.
A startpage (#69) would still be helpful for users that enter a collective for the first time.
