Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
It would be essential for a workflow problem I like to solve.
Setting: Supplier (web shop, manufacturer, service provider) is using Deck to coordinate his tasks (delivery, customer care appointment, ...).
Idea: Add items to deck and assign it a date. Whenever a calendar entry is accessible there is an icon besides it that will link to this calendar entry. This can be copied to any form of communication (mail, instant messenger, printed on a piece of paper and attached to a dove). If something happens I can change the date and the information goes out to the subscriber.
Obviously invitations to events do not work in this setting:
I want to inform someone about a date (e. g. delivery of goods) that might change ("here is your delivery date, do not even think about trying to call me and discuss it, but it will auto-update when things are changing"). maybe I don nit even know enough about the recipient to add them to a calendar entry -- the recipient may share the link as much as he wants to (e. g. find someone to open the door) and I do not even want to know.
Describe the solution you'd like
Add the option of creating a direct link to single calendar entries/vcards that can be sent to an arbitrary destination (just like it is done with file sharing links -- only this time the file is a .vcard). Bonus points if the link is looking like a calendar with a random (GUID?) name that can't be easily guessed.
The recipient can do with the link whatever he wants.
If the calendar entry is removed (e. g. because the Deck card has been deleted or (more feature requests coming: auto-delete a pseudo-calendar when all entries are gone) or the time is sufficiently far in the past) the link should be removed automatically.
Describe alternatives you've considered
I checked all major calendar servers and I did not find a single product that permits me to export read access to items as URLs. So the only alternative is extracting the calendar entries as vcard and putting them on a server which will make updates a major pain in the ass.
Additional context
A similar feature request was sent as Sharing single contacts and events #328 and denied by "can be done differently"; that reason does not really hold here...
