I have checked if others have suggested this already

  • I have checked this issue tracker to see if others have reported similar issues.

Feature description

Adding the front socks proxy feature to the mobile app allows traffic to pass through the front proxy.

In some heavily censored countries where official Shadowsocks proxies are blocked by the authorities, it is possible to use proxies provided by other service providers through the front socks proxy.

Another way to use the proxy is to route traffic through the Tor.

Alternative solutions

Currently, the way to use Shadowsocks on Android is to use the “OpenVPN for Android” client, which allows you to set up the front socks proxy.

But it requires too many settings and is not user friendly.

Type of feature

  • Better privacy/anonymity
  • Better at circumventing censorship
  • Easier to use
  • Other

Operating System

  • Android
  • iOS
  • Windows
  • macOS
  • Linux

Hi @ChrisFerebee

Thanks for your feature request!

I have created an internal issue so we can track it, but it is quite far from what Mullvad currently does. Although we do really want to make it easier to get around blocks.
