i'll re-pitch #293 here, in case there's any renewed interest in swapping to a much faster chart lib; it has since gone from a prototype pet project to the primary plotting core in Grafana as well as https://perf.rust-lang.org/ :)

i do realize that the perf issue here might be backend related and not frontend.
