Probably $something does not support their letters.

Currently not super relevant for Transitous since we don't have any schedules there anyway, but this is probably a problem in other places as well.

It also happens with Arabic text.

The same could be seen at maps.jwestman.net (James Westman's "test web map" where is did experimentations with our map style in GNOME Maps/libshumate).

It's using maplibre, I think.
