When I toggle to full-screen with F11, then the menu bar is there, but invisible. It looks like the foreground and background colors are the same. The problem remains after toggling back to windowed mode with F11. The menu bar is there as black bar, but none of the items is visible unless you click on an item, then the corresponding menu item is displayed in white on blue.

I've included two screen shots, both in windowed mode after toggling to full-screen and back with F11.

I'm on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with the Mate desktop and this occurs with the 2.2 beta from the Ubuntu PPA.

This also happpens with 18.04 and xfce desktop

  • start in windowed mode = black text on grey
  • switch to fullscreen = black text on almost black
  • switch back to window mode = black background remains

It doesn't seem to matter which system theme I choose.

btw: right now I consider this a feature rather than a bug ;)
The menu bar is still stealing vertical space but at least it's 'invisble' which is fine regarding I use it once or twice (at most) a session, and it can't be styled by the OS theme.

I don't see how you can consider it a feature that saves space when the space is still taken up by the menu; it's just not visible.

I recorded a video of it in order to report this and another problem of you want to see it in action

@ronso0: I agree with dj_segfault that this is not a feature for me as it makes using the menu difficult. If I can choose to turn this on or off, maybe, but not a default choice.

@ronso0 @dj_segfault
I guess you both ignored my ;) Of course it's a bug.
"feature" because with this bug I got rid of another distraction = information in my visual range that I rarely need.

Visibility issues on Ubuntu/Mint have also been reported in the forums for both 2.2 and 2.3:

Cannot be fixed until someone is able to find out why this happens on Ubuntu/.

No issues on Fedora (Qt 5.13/5.14), neither on X nor on Wayland with XCB (mixxx -platform xcb).
