Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes

  • VS Code Version: 1.86.2
  • OS Version: Darwin Kernel Version 23.3.0 arm64

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create new file.
  2. Type ☸️
  3. Type ☁️
  4. Type 🥲

Check comments for workarounds.
AFAIK adding explicit emoji font before system fallback should help

I set the 2nd fallback font to Apple Color Emoji and working now. 👍🏻
