vsts-npm-auth doesn't seem to work with npm 7

Issue Description

We've been testing with NPM7 (with has the RC status right now), and we run into issue when authenticating with azure artifacts. We use the vsts-npm-auth package to authenticate, as the documentation of azure artifacts states. But the authentication seems to not work anymore with NPM 7. I've been discussing this with NPM developers, but they are unable to determine if the issue is an NPM7 issue or an with vsts-npm-auth.

They have been very helpful in troubleshooting the issue, but we have now reached the point we need your help to determine where the issue lies. I have no idea as to how this package works (and neither do the NPM devs)

Update: It seems that the npmAuthenticate@0 also doesn't work with npm7. Still not sure if the root cause lies with NPM7 or somewhere in the azure devops tasks

This issue can be closed. We discovered the issue was in the npm7, and not in the vsts-npm-auth package
