WSL cant resolve hostnames #3626

For some reason a cant resolve hostnames in my WSL. Commands that aren't working:
ping google.com
mtr google.com

mtr: Failed to resolve host: google.com: Temporary failure in name resolution

The strange thing about it is that commands nslookup and dig are FINE. They can return correct IP on google.com.

The issue is not in my nameservers, they are working correctly and allow all needed traffic. Port 53 is open and fine also.

Can someone please help me to get into this problem? Because I absolutely have no idea how nslookup can work and ping not.

Things I have tried:

  1. 8.8.8.8 DNS
  2. flushing DNS on windows
  3. removing /etc/hosts and /etc/resolve.conf for WSL to regenerate them

Sorry guys, during investigation I broke WSL and had to reinstall it. That solved my problem, although I still have no idea why it didn't work before. Issue can be closed.
