In Sonic Advance 3, a friend and I have gotten multiplayer working using the "New multiplayer window" function and Parsec to stream my desktop to my friend remotely. About 20 or so seconds into the first act of Route 99, the second multiplayer window crashes which causes a communication error, thus ending the multiplayer game session. This has happened every time.
Can you see if you have the same issue in the development version? There have been some multiplayer fixes in the meantime.
We determined the issue to be the GameShark code 8200256E 0100 used to disable the in-game music on the second player's window, but not the first players. Playing without this code enabled on either console results in no crashes. It's weird, because someone did an entire playthrough with this cheat enabled with seemingly no issues. Instead, to prevent music the two seperate windows from overlapping, I went to Tools>Settings>Audio/Video>Audio in multiplayer and set it to "Play 1 window only" and this made the game bearable with the only downside being no sound effects for player 2 besides rings (which are shared and so play on both consoles/windows).
