Elementary Questions

Hello,

I'm new to using the OBD2 hardware + PC to troubleshoot vehicles and I have a few questions because I've not been successful finding these answers elsewhere. If there's a link that will answer all my questions, please let me know. I'm open to tutorials, etc. I'm happy to read and study but so far I've been mostly confused by the information I've discovered from the links that I've found.

• What software is the preferred software to use with the WiCAN for GM products in the US?
• Where do I find a DBC for my vehicle? The vehicle is an 03 GMC Sierra with the 6.6L diesel.
• I will be running this under Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, are there any tips for success?
