Hi all!

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

  1. I've thought for a while if the matrix network protocol had a way to temporarily delete messages for better user safety.
  2. It would be interesting if the matrix had a way to configure a time when messages from users were deleted for better security and privacy of their data.

Describe the solution you'd like and/or proof

"Hi all! my last question... if you guys have the time and patience to answer. My question would be... if it would be possible to have temporary messages in the matrix protocol. This would be similar to what you find in things like Pastebin... where you share information that you delete after a time. Note: I would be happy for this new feedback"

Additional context

  1. I talked to the Matrix team and it seems to be a great suggestion, so I left this issue open for everyone to evaluate if this idea is good or file this idea if it is bad.
  2. But I would like to leave it open here as a public archive of the idea, in case anyone has any criticism that they can do here too.
  3. Reference: https://app.element.io/#/room/#matrix:matrix.org/

Describe alternatives you've considered

  1. I can't find this idea anywhere, so I didn't think of any alternative... but most apps like WeChat, Pastebin, Snapchat, Whatsapp, Telegram have this feature.
  2. It would be interesting if the matrix had a form of a time in which they would be deleted for better security and privacy configuration of their data.

From a quick look, we don't have a canonical issue for tracking this, though we clearly have thought about it before, as evidenced by matrix-org/matrix-spec-proposals#2228. However, feature requests for the protocol belong as issues in the matrix-org/matrix-spec repository, so I'm moving it there.

@uhoreg Hi! thank you for feedback ;D I'm glad for your comment. please, close this issue. everything has been resolved - you clarify all doubts. So... really, this feature doesn't make any sense.
