How can i prevent group from removing after the last panel was closed?

I need my group to persist to organize new panles, but when i close last panel of this group and add new panel that is referencing it i get error:

referencePanel 1 does not exist
    at DockviewComponent.addPanel (http://localhost:3000/static/js/bundle.js:14072:17)
    at DockviewApi.addPanel (http://localhost:3000/static/js/bundle.js:10712:27)

but i am referencing group, i don't understand why it references panel:
