What is the difference between the material-icon-theme npm package and the material-icon-theme VSCode Extension?

Good question. Right now the difference is simply the platform where the source code is available. Some people are using the icons in some other projects as well and want to have the icons included as npm dependency. There are no differences in terms of content.

Yes. Similar to other npm packages. Use it as a dependency in other projects as well if you see a need for that. This library is licensed under the MIT license. So just give some credit and everyone is happy.

it's a web extension that modifies the icons on GitHub, and it uses the icons from the npm package :)
