Custom file association: Icon for jenkinsfiles

Hi, I am trying to get the jenkins icon for my jenkinsfiles.
The problem is my files don't have an extension and are named in the pattern *-jenkinsfile. As I understand, only files with certain extensions can be associated with icons.
I tried adding the following in settings.json

"material-icon-theme.files.associations": {
        "**jenkinsfile**": "jenkins"
    },

My files still don't get the icon. But the files with extension .jenkinsfile display the jenkins logo icon (even without adding the above code).
Am I doing anything wrong or is this not possible? Thanks.

Everything you are doing is correct, just unfortunately what you are expecting is not supported by VS code. The feature you're missing is already described in this issue: #330. But it's still blocked until VS Code updates the extension API to allow such things ;)
