Describe the bug:
Recently there's is an issue with all the WhatsApp status apps. They can detect the images, but can't parse it. At first, I thought WhatsApp might have encoded them, but that's not the case, I can see them using file explorer.

Steps to reproduce:
Open the app

Expected behavior:
Should see status thumbnail and open them

Hello. Thanks for reporting this, however, I have not yet been able to reproduce the error on any device.

Is there any chance you can collect the system logs?
