Dear Ryan,

We've discovered another problem with the integration after we solved #765.

Here's what the Mailchimp engineer discovered:

The integration is doing this thing where it adds a contact and then sends a PATCH call for the same contact--a PATCH call is a modifying call. Thankfully I tested multiple times--the integration is POSTing contacts and then within the time it takes the API to process the contact a PATCH call is also sent over so the contact is being modified as soon as it's added, which causes Mailchimp to think the contact isn't truly "new". The only thing we think could be causing this is a rogue plug-in. WooCommerce plug-ins can apply global changes to your account/store. Currently there are 29 active plug-ins running in the store environment. So the best thing to do moving forward would be to operate within a staging environment and disable/re-enable plug-in after plug-in while testing purchases. Sounds tedious, but it is the only way to know exactly which of those guys is causing issues.

We're also finding that the Date Added field in Mailchimp is populated with a canonical date - 1/1/70 1:00, it seems this date is connected with to the failed email automation.

Also this change has been made in the plugin: We added one more condition to the list to check from Woocommerce to Mailchimp and when we did that we could see ourselves in the list. We purchased one of the courses, using the code you provided but didn't initially see that purchase in Mailchimp. The reason why it was not working is that it was not filtering both Woocommerce segments. We added that condition;

@SpencerBarron thanks for the report - although I'm not sure that this is really a bug. The reason I say this is that the plugin makes the patch request on every time a save even occurs on the user. What exactly is the issue that you're trying to resolve? If Mailchimp doesn't trigger an automation due to this, I would want to know a little more about the setup before introducing any sort of blocker for this on the plugin side.

The date added thing is actually a long standing bug that Mailchimp has been aware of and has since resolved - but for older records it's not "fixing" them. It's only supposed to be working on new records moving forward. I would suggest that you bring this specific thing up to support ( the date issue ) and see if they can walk you through the list migration to resolve it.

I do understand that this isn't ideal, but as of this time, there isn't any other way to do it other than migrate to a new list. Can you please reach out to them and ask for help? After you migrate to a new list, you'll actually need to re-connect the plugin to the new list - then everything should be back to normal.
