No warning, nothing. None is working either.

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)
  1. Open preferences > shortcuts
  2. Add for example Ctrl+Alt+b for 2 different actions
  3. Apply and close
  4. No working shortcut, reopening preferences both are stll there.

Do other apps warn the user about entering duplicate shortcuts? I've made it impossible in my apps and also in lximage-qt, but I don't think it's usual.

I remember always a warning: "X is already is assigned to action Y (and eventually: do you want to reassign?)".
This in applications like darktable, digikam. kdenlive or calibre. The issue is more that no one works here when having duplicates.

Ambiguous shortcuts don't work. When a shortcut is assigned to more than one action, it's called "ambiguous".

OK, they can be prevented, like in lximage-qt.
