I was thinking that to improve the UI for mobile, the stats could be hidden and there could be a button/ toggle saying 'Display stats' in the bottom left corner that when clicked, shows a modal to access the stats currently shown in the right-hand side in desktop view. This should help to maximise the screen real estate and only show the stats if needed.

Could you do a small mockup so we can visualize it?

Sure! Here are some mockups (I used Figma) of the different views in mobile (screen size is iPhone X):

1. Home view:

2. Stats View:

3. Stats View - Lowest Active Cases Expanded:

4. Stats View - Highest Active Cases Expanded:

5. Stats View - Both Expanded:

Looking forward to your feedback!

Also, I imagine for smaller screen sizes or in general, the stats box could have a scrollbar if any of the containers are too long for the stats modal.
