Add old cinnamon theme back #488
Comments
I'd like this too. The new dialogs look like a complete mismatch to the rest of the desktop, e.g.: The new dialog button styles look nothing alike to the in app buttons. The windows are different shades as well. Main windows are not rounded at the bottom but many aspects of the new theme are. I don't like the Adwaita style but even in GNOME this stays consistent, all apps, dialogs and themes use consistent styles, shades and shapes. With the previous theme I was able to achieve a very cohesive experience, even theming Qt apps with qt5gtk2/qt6gtk2 to look like part of the Mint-Y desktop environment, but it feels pointless if the DE itself is not consistent. |
It seems that whoever changed the appearance uses a dark theme as the main one. I don't understand why the search field in the menu and input fields in forms are gray, why the buttons in modal windows contain black text on a dark gray background. Obviously, there will be no return to the previous theme for technological reasons, but is it possible to make the light Mint Y light again? |
I just updated my system and to my surprise, the cinnamon theme has gone all dark and round, looking like gnome and it is pretty much a completely new theme. I would appreciate if it was forked and one could switch between this new dark version and the previous version. Thank you.
