I talked to Richard Flyer the other day, and learned more about this project on 'Birthing the symbiotic age'. Here is a bit of an overview: https://richardflyer.substack.com/p/introducing-symbiotic-culture
Summary and initial thoughts
It provides a framework for 'systems transformation' and takes insight from the sarvodaya model as an example for how this can happen between organizations, and on more of a community level. The aim is to build a 'network commons', or organizations which are able to mutually support each other, and so far the book (which is being released on substack over the coming weeks, and is now on chapter 2) outlines key values to help this process, and key needs which are considered. From what he told me, it is more grounded in communities, and how transformation can happen here, and I think this brings up important considerations for how we consider 'coherence'.
When we talked he emphasized the 'aa model' as a way to frame societal transformation, as a 'healing narrative' and of becoming more open to a larger intelligence.
I have only just started reading, and put some initial points in the framework below, but I encourage others to check it out: https://richardflyer.substack.com/
5 key values
12 common needs
A network commons
"A Network Commons represents a community-based collaborative initiative where nonprofits, religious organizations, civic entities, mutual aid and gifting groups, cooperatives, private enterprises, and public resources are intentionally interconnected, shared, and governed by an engaged community of stakeholders. "
The challenge of many scales
How do we make 'systems transformation' happen across many scales? How can there be coordination or coherence across different scales? This raises more acutely the challenge of how to consider 'systems transformation'; it requires coordination in so many different ways with so many different actors that it is difficult to consider. What is Life Itselfs role in 'systems transformation'? We might say building a second renaissance movement and building the field for DDS, and importantly that this is only 'one part' of systems transformation. More generally, as helping to navigate the change in views and values
What do we mean by coherence?
When we talk about 'cohering the field' of change agents, we refer to the 'second renaissance' ecosystem, and the 'sarvodaya model' or 'symbiogenesis framework' more so looks into the change agents 'on the ground' or in communities. How can we better consider these varieties of change agents, who are not on the 'liminal web' or in this ecosystem, but are considerable change agents and required for systems transformation? Should we be considering these change agents directly, or is that not our role in systems transformation?
