Sometimes server has $TMOUT and it will invalidate the existing keep-alive methods.

Sending custom strings is a solution.

This feature has been available for a long time, although it was not enabled by default.

WindTerm 2.7.0 Prerelease 2 addresses this by enabling the feature by default and sending a null character every 60 seconds. Please download and try it. Thank you for the suggestion!
