A generic photo viewer that give us something similar to the iPhone native one (e.g. https://github.com/facebook/three20/blob/master/src/Three20UI/Headers/TTPhotoViewController.h)
but of course runs well on all the other platforms.
Let's hope that a good photo viewer 'out of the box' will prevent us from having (again) 217 different types of image-carousel-slider-etc'.

I agree that this will be a good widget to add post-1.0. Closing and adding as a future feature:

Found this thread via the wiki-- (is it good practice to add a comment here and now?)

Photoswipe looks like a well done project which does exactly this, although I haven't used it yet. Any thoughts on coordination?

Sure, commenting is a great idea. Lots of people stumble onto issues from Google so we like to have these be as helpful as possible.
