Filter in custom select pop-up

In the new 1.4.0 alpha it is possible to add a filter to a select.
But, I feel that the filter could be especially useful on mobile devices and the current filter is fairly visually disconnected from the select.
The following fiddle shows how a filter can be nicely integrated into the select pop-up.

Apparently this request was already in the wiki.
I added this issue to it and made the name more generic.

Shouldn't the JS code be handled/added automatic if you add 'data-filter="true"' to a select?

No. That would require writing too many special cases. You can take the code in the example and copy/paste it.
